Google launches Android Oreo (Go edition) for low end devices



       At Google I/O 2017, Google promised a version of Android custom-designed for low-end devices. Today, “Android Oreo (GO edition)” is being made available to device manufacturers and developers. The search giant introduced Android Oreo (Go Edition) that is designed to run on smartphones running on 1GB or 512MB RAM capacity.

       India which is a growing market of smartphones where most people are buying smartphones with cost around 6,000 and less, Making the same operating system work on both flagships with high-end hardware and the cheapest of cheap phones with limited hardware is a challenge, but Google says it has overcome this with Android Go edition of OS and Application for limited hardware devices. So Android Oreo (Go edition) is a slim version of Android Oreo.

       According to Google, the Android Oreo (Go edition) is comprised of three tenets: the operating system, Google apps, and the Play Store.


Operating System: 
        Google says they have optimized the Oreo to such a Extend that the average apps will run 15% faster on new Go edition also have enhanced the preinstalled Google apps so that it takes up to 50 percent less space leaving more space for users. While considering security Android Oreo (Go edition) will get Google Play Protect built-in.


Google Apps:

       Android Oreo (Go edition) is to arrive with just nine apps preinstalled: Google Go, Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, Gboard, Google Play, Chrome, and Files Go. All of these apps, as mentioned before, have been tuned to take up as little space as possible, with Google Go, in particular weighing in at under 5 MB. The Google States "With our new and reimagined Google apps, we’ve focused on making them not only smaller but smooth and fast too. For example, Google Go—a new app to find the information you want—optimizes data by up to 40 percent, weighs less than 5MB in size, and makes it faster to find popular and trending information with a simple, tappable interface. ".


Play Store:
        Finally, the Play Store in Android Oreo (Go edition) has a new section that recommends apps that are tuned to entry-level devices. However, the Android Go Play Store will give users access to all the regular apps as well.

       With this all, Android Oreo (Go edition) looks to fulfil Android Go’s promise by delivering lean, but still capable, software on entry-level hardware and also the users with low budgets will able to get devices with the latest version of Android.
