Get voter ID / Election card by applying online

      Hi friends, after attending the age of 18 everyone applies for various documents like Driving License, Bank account, PAN card, Voter ID card etc. Everyone in India has their great experiences with government work so people apply for documents through agents while some don't bother about applying for documents. Which keeps people from applying voter ID. and to encourage more people for applying Voter Id the Election Commision of India (ECI) has made it easier to apply for a voter's card from the comfort of your home through an online application portal knows as National Voters Service Portal (NVSP).

  Steps Involved in New Voter ID Online Application:

1. Visit the website National Voters Services Portal (NVSP) managed by ECI.
2. Click on "Apply online for registration of new voter/due to shifting from AC" (you will be directed to form 6).
3. Enter Appropriate details and upload the required documents.
4. Click on "Submit".

Once you submit, you will receive an SMS on the number that you have provided. This SMS will have a Tracking id. You will be able to track your voter ID application through this page or on NVSP.

Documents Required to Apply For a Voter's ID Card (Voter Registration):

1. One passport sized photograph
2. Identity proof- this could be Aadhaar card, birth certificate, passport, driving licence, PAN Card or high school mark sheet.
3. Address proof- this could be either ration card, your passport, driving license or a utility bill (phone or electricity) or any government document having your address in it.

Benefits of applying online for Election Card/Voter ID Card:

Comfort: This is the biggest advantage of the online application process. Now, you do not have to travel to the electoral office in your constituency to obtain the form. This part used to be an oft-cited reason for not applying for the card since quite a few eligible voters did not know where their electoral office was located or did not find the time.
Track Voter ID Status: This is another advantage of applying for an election card/voter ID online. You can easily track your voter ID status online. Once you submit the form, you will start receiving regular updates on the status of your application.

Saves Time: applying online saves time to fill by pen, submit by visiting the office.

The time to process the application depends on various factors like the scheduled election, the number of applications received etc. mines it took approx 2 months.

Once your name has been enroled you can vote with help of any Gov id proof (click here to check your name on an electoral roll).
